ABOUT CHASITY

Helping People Make Sense of Dementia & What Comes Next

Hi - I'm Chasity Robinson Mwangi, a Certified Dementia Practitioner, founder of Mindful Connection, and creator of Dementia Decoded™.

For more than 25 years, I've had the privilege of helping families and healthcare professionals understand complex care situations, recognize what matters, and move forward with greater clarity.

My work is not simply about explaining dementia. It is about helping people confidently navigate the real-life situations dementia creates.

WHERE IT BEGAN

This Work Began Long Before

Mindful Connection

My journey did not begin behind a podium or inside a conference room.

It began inside people's homes, providing hands-on care for individuals living with dementia. I saw how cognitive changes affected more than memory. They changed conversations, relationships, routines, safety, and the way entire families made decisions.

Later, while working in a biomedical laboratory, I interacted with physicians, PhDs, parents of autistic children, and individuals navigating mental health concerns. I often found myself standing between highly technical information and the people who simply needed to understand what it meant for their real lives.

That is where one of my greatest strengths became clear: I could take complicated clinical information, find the meaning inside it, and explain it in language that helped people understand what was happening and what to do next.

As my career continued through healthcare, senior living, dementia care, and family guidance, I saw how important it was to make complicated information understandable and useful.

My experience also expanded into senior-living leadership and corporate sales training, where I helped professionals strengthen communication, build relationships, and navigate complex situations. Those roles gave me an understanding of the challenges organizations face, from developing confident teams to supporting families and delivering consistent, person-centered care.

Making complex information understandable became the thread connecting everything I did.

Understanding Dementia Is Important.

Knowing What to Do Next Changes Everything.

Over the years, I met many families who had been given a diagnosis but very little guidance for what happened afterward.

They knew their loved one had dementia—but they did not understand why Mom suddenly accused them of stealing, why Dad became frightened in his own home, or how to respond when the same painful question was asked again and again.

Professionals often faced a similar challenge. They understood dementia clinically, but needed practical ways to respond to the real-life situations happening with residents, patients, and families.

I created Mindful Connection to help close that gap.

Through education, consultation, care navigation, speaking, and professional training, I help people move beyond simply knowing about dementia to understanding how to respond with greater confidence, compassion, and clarity.

One moment doesn't tell the story. Patterns over time do.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

What Guides My Work

These are more than phrases. They shape how I educate, guide families, and support professionals.

01 - Meet the emotion before the facts.

Behavior often communicates a need before words can.

02 - Protect the relationship before you correct the behavior.

Being technically right matters less if the approach creates fear, shame, or resistance.

03 - Soften the approach, not the standard.

Compassion and clear expectations can exist together.
